Y6110. To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Sft{Mr Swift}/Mr. Brock. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.17/KW.29.8.35. Re Seekay Wax for Ignition Coils. Tests we have carried out shew that vacuum impregnating the coils in this wax, as distinct from filling the coils in their cases, gives a worse electrical performance. Merely filling the cases does not affect the electrical output of the secondary winding. We are investigating the reasons for this reduction in output which we believe is due to Seekay wax having a higher specific inductivity and a lower specific resistivity, but for the time being all coils must merely be filled and not impregnated with Seekay wax.
