HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} C.c. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY ORIGINAL R1/14.9.32. X1487 Y4= S.U. CARBURETTER. It will be remembered that I am not greatly impressed with the SU. carburetter, but I pass the modifications which we have suggested as being necessary to the standard for the Bensport engine. I take no responsibility for the good behaviour and permanency of this type of carburetter. There is little doubt that it is very convenient and efficient for high power, and is the only type inexpensive and simple enough to fit as two carburetters per engine. It will be remembered that the 2 points about which I have little faith are the wear of the needle in its nearly closed position, and the control spindle being liable to leak petrol, which might in certain cases be very dangerous from a fire aspect.
