JLE.{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} Lillie Hall.. c. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x777o EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thn2/H11.10.29. re. Phantom II. Front Step Brackets. With reference to your memo. LE2/H9.10.29. the front step bracket, which is curved, as you state, to suit the spare wheel, should only be fitted when a side wheel carrier is also fitted. Where there is no side wheel carrier, there should be no front curved step bracket# fitted. A number of cars were despatched, however, before these instructions were made clear. We are taking the necessary steps to see that instructions are issued for these front curved step brackets to be removed on cars delivered where there are no side wheel carriers, and for the necessary packing pieces to be forwarded for fitting to the frame where the front step brackets are removed.
