LOSS OF OIL FROM NO.2-WJ GEAR BOX. ------------------------- It would seem from the general faults of oil leaks in the Test Dept., that the cause of loss of oil from the above gear box is caused by the oil retaining screw not being concentric with its housing, and we should advise to it being checked up. The loss of oil from the gear boxes on production is very small, the faults arising from chassis on test, are cheifly, front bearing, servo drive bearing, joint of charge speed unit, where bolted to gear box. The first mentioned have and are always found to be due to the retaining screw not being concentric with the housing. The leak of oil from the air vent that was prominent on the first chassis, has been definitely cured by alteration to the drilling of the vent holes. The 10,000 mile cars were very free from oil leaks and little oil had to be added to the gear box throughout the mileage. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
