Bentley Chassis No.B-89-GW.

During a visit to our works today Mr Dalton who owns chassis B-89-GW told us that on one occasion he had steering trouble, and found the cause to be due to the two nuts on the bolts holding the steering box to the frame having come undone. He stated that no grover washers were fitted under the nuts and that he fitted some and has had no subsequent trouble in this respect. The absence of grover washers is rather inexplicable, but we should be glad to know if any other cases of these nuts slackening off have been reported.

Mr Dalton further stated that his car was developing considerable wear on the pivot pins which he noticed by jacking up the front wheels and feeling for it in the usual way. We told him that we had modified the bearings in order to overcome this trouble, it having occurred to us that his car may not have had the changeover carried out on the pivot pins and stub axle. We arranged with him that we should look up our records and see whether his axle had the latest modifications on it, if not we would communicate with him and make arrangements to have the car in and complete the changeover.

Will you kindly take the necessary action.
The car has completed 18,400 miles.

Mr Dalton stated that he would like a 4¼ litre Bentley car, but that he was holding up his order until this years Olympia show in the hope that we should introduce independent front wheel suspension and a stiffer frame.
