-2- I am giving you below data on the new XXC-13 and XXC-15 batteries as compared with the LXR-9 battery which you have been using - Type Capacity Dimensions Weight Intermit. rate. 5 amp. Rate. 20 Min. Rate. L. W. H. {Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Lbs. 6XXC-15-1 105 100 114 19-1/4 7-3/8 9-1/8 100 6XXC-13-1 90 84 98 17 7-3/8 9-1/8 89-1/2 6LXR- 9-1 80 66 78 17 7-3/8 9-1/8 85 After receiving your permission to talk with the Bijur Company this morning I called them and found that the breakover current on their tests has been approximately 200 amperes. The initial voltage of the 6XXC-15 battery at 200 amperes would be 11.22; of the 6XXC-13 battery, 11.04, as against the initial voltage of 9.66 for the 6LXR-9 battery which you are using now. We gave to the Bijur Company over the phone the average voltage of the 6-XXC-13 battery on discharge at the rate required for cranking and they advised us that this would give a speed of between 70 and 80 R.P.M. which I understand from them was a better speed than they had obtained on their test, due to the fact, I presume, that the battery that they used in making their test was one having a higher internal resistance than the new XXC battery. Our price to you for the 6-XXC-13-1 battery on a contract basis would be $22.90, and the price of the 6-XXC-15-1 battery on this basis would be $25.50, these prices being based on lead at $4.50 per hundred pounds and antimony at $.10 per pound. In view of the fact that the officials of our Company think your business important enough to permit us at the present time to offer you our new XXC type of battery, I trust you will allow me the opportunity of discussing this proposition with you and your engineers personally in further detail. Yours very truly, THE ELECTRIC STORAGE BATTERY CO. (Signed) W.D.Jones For the New York Branch. | ||
