Attention Mr. H.C.Ross
Assistant Purchasing Agent.

Gentlemen:-

In discussing your proposition with the officials of our Company yesterday they took the position that the leading car in America, should be equipped with the best battery in America, and they have consented to allow us to offer you our new type XXC battery which is not yet in general production but which represents a tremendous advance in the storage battery art.

In this battery we are combining the feature of long life and freedom from trouble as represented by our LXR line of batteries which you are now using, with the feature of low resistance, high voltage and tremendous starting ability as represented by our XC line of batteries.

The important feature in this battery is that through various improvements in design we are able to so reduce the electrical resistance in the cell that it makes it possible for us to insert a slotted rubber separator in addition to the wood separator, and at the same time give voltage characteristics equal to those of our XC or standard line of starting batteries.

As you know, a flat rubber separator against a positive plate will increase the life of the plate and at the same time reduce the rotting action of the positive plate on the wood separator, so that a battery so designed will not fail from separator trouble. The best possible separator that has ever been developed for a storage battery cell is a combination of a flat, rubber separator against the positive plate, with a grooved wood separator having its flat side against the negative plate. Such a combination does not clogg; the action occurs freely through it, and the flat surfaces of the separators against the positive and the negative plates tend to hold the material in the plates. Furthermore, the wood separator prevents all internal short circuits which it is impossible to accomplish by any other separator.
