Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Sft.{Mr Swift} Report on the Comparisons of the R.R. and the Luvax Bijur Pumps. --------------------------- The following are the particulars of the two Pumps :- WEIGHT R.R. Luvax. 6 lbs. 4 lbs. 11 ozs. CAPACITY. 25.5 c.c. 16.3 c.c. LAG IN PUMP LEVER AFTER PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. None. 1.00". With regard to this lag in the pedal movement, the Luvax people claim that with their valve it is impossible to pump air into the pipe lines when the pump is empty. With the R.R. pump it is possible to do this with the result that the pipe lines become filled with air which prevents oil flowing to various sections of the car. With the Luvax Pump it is more necessary to release the pedal quickly; otherwise the pump chamber will not fill up with oil. POUNDS PRESSURE - TAKEN WITH A SMALL LEAK. R.R. Luvax. 67 lbs/sq.in. At start of stoke 85 lbs/sq.in. 62 " " At three quarters 74 " " of stroke PRESSURE MAINTAINED WITH NO OUTLET FROM PUMP. 70 lbs/sq.in. 120 lbs/sq.in. Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
