| -3- To assemble the pump no difficulty was experienced inserting the leather washer, as the free edge of the leather entered last. R.R. BIJUR PUMP. To dismantle this pump for inspection, on no account remove the fulcrum pin. Take off the 4 box nuts at the top, and the valve and spring, together with long gauze filter, can be withdrawn from tank. At the bottom of this unit, the valve will be seen, but to inspect the seating, etc. it is necessary to remove this from spindle of pump. This necessitates a special tool, and press, as the full load of the spring has to be dealt with. This also applies to the replacement of the leather cups. In this pump there are two leather cups, and great care has to be taken in erection, as the bottom cup will very easily fold back. Having engaged the leathers, the next difficulty is found in engaging the 4 very flexible 2-B-A studs with the holes in the top, the easiest way being to invert the pump, and guide the studs with a thin rod or screwdriver. The studs now being entered in the holes, it is just possible to start one of the nuts without its washer. Pull this down a little, and one is then able to get the other three nuts on. It is not possible to use a standard 2-B-A box spanner on the two back nuts, and there is very little room for a jaw spanner. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W.
