result produced by Michelin is so striking that I begin to wonder whether it is not going to be necessary for us to revise everything we know about roadability.

I freely admit that, in the course of my 40 years experience of motor cars, I have never before had the impression of such an extraordinary advance.

While congratulating the inventor of this wonderful unit (the wheel is no less remarkable than the tyre), I could not help saying with a certain sadness:

"You have robbed the French car of one of its outstanding qualities - the way it holds the road: now, with your "Pilot" wheel and tyre, every car will hold the road perfectly."

The reply was that a car that already holds the road well will hold it better still, the gain in this case being no less appreciable.

We shall all be running as it were on rails now - but no longer on wobbly rails.

I have no hesitation in coming to the conclusion that the "Pilot" tyre represents the greatest advance ever made in the direction of safety.
