WILMOT-BREEDEN LTD. Eastern Works, Camden Street, Birmingham 1. 9th. March, 1940. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. ATTENTION W.A.ROBOTHAM, ESQ. Dear Sirs, SPECIAL SAMPLE FRONT BUMPERS B.L.70. Further to our letter of the 7th. instant, we are sending to you blueprint copies showing the schemes we have prepared to date. We are not satisfied at this stage but feel that we shall be able to put up to you a Bumper which will briefly comprise the Bar with two main Over-riders and a smaller edition of the Over-rider which will perform the function of the Beetle Bolt without the necessity of the protrusion on the Bumper Bar. It must be clearly understood that in order to obtain the flush fitting feature without protrusion it willbe necessary to resort to flame welding, or welding of some type, of the keep plates of the large and small over-riders and this is a feature which we mentioned in our previous letters is far from satisfactory as a production job, unless expensive finishing operations are included. We shall be sending to you early next week a sample section of the Bar material to which a plate has been welded which will indicate to you more forcibly the difficulty stressed above. Trusting you will find our schemes of interest. Yours faithfully, for WILMOT-BREEDEN LIMITED R.P,TURNER. ENCL.PRINTS Pd/Exp.6178/A.{Mr Adams} Pd/Exp.6178/B. | ||
