To HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Re Stock 20/25HP Pullman limousine Booms. As I had nothing to do with the production of these bodies, & have had to give up attending to coachwork I did not go to London to assist in the investigation of the booming in this body. Sales did not ask us for any assistance and I presume wish us here to leave coachwork to them. Ever since we first became interested in Coachwork our position has been a very unstable one, & our efforts resented. In fact "R.{Sir Henry Royce}" alone was the only power that kept it going. I have fought hard to have our Coachwork side put on as good a technical footing as our chassis side is - but have not succeeded. There seems to be some hope of your dept. being able to do so, as you are less fettered than I was. I am glad that you are going ahead, & hope that ultimately you may be able to get the technical side entirely supervised by Derby. P.T.O | ||
