and to cure this, pivots were designed (C471/2) for larger ball races and were fitted to as many as possible of 700 series, but the designer for some reason or other cut off the oil retaining ring which was solid with the pivot and fitted a thin brass spinning in its place. as has been our practice ever since. This of course considerably reduced the strength of the pivots and would seem to be the origin of our arms being weak at this point.
