ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED, NIGHTINGALE ROAD, DERBY. TELEGRAMS: - 'ROYCAR,' DERBY. TELEPHONES: 476, Four Lines. DEPARTMENTAL MEMO. This column is for Name of Person addressed: Er Johnson 5-4-13 [STAMP: RECEIVED 5 APR 1913] [STAMP: 7 IV 13] [Handwritten note in margin:] Walms Who was the designer. Was the drawing signed? Re breakages of pivots. - K.16H The cards in our record s.i. which unfortunately in the early days were not kept as carefully and conscientiously as they are now, led us into an error in the early series numbers quoted in the standing order for the above job. Since I found out this mistake I went very carefully into the matter, examining all pivot drawings in the D.O. myself to avoid the possibility of a second error, and I came across a point which I thought might interest Mr Royce and which I have not seen as yet mentioned in my report. It appears that the pivots D.1181/2 were designed for series 500 and 700 (there are no 600 cars) and appear to be amply strong enough, but during 700 series Mr Royce may remember that there was an "epidemic" on broken ball races This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers. | ||
