X.5310 43426 In connection with these experiments, we have carried out a test on a 40/50 HP. on the 1st. and 2nd. speeds which are similar in design to those on the 'India' 4-speed gearbox. We found that on the car we tried, if the lever was free from the notches in the gate, the 1st. speed gear would work out. It required an effort of 10 lbs. on the end of the change speed lever to prevent it from doing so. There was also a slight tendency for the 2nd. speed to work out. It would work half way out; a slight pressure on the end of the change speed lever would prevent this occurring. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
