(3) SHORTER GEAR LEVER. X.3426.

I quite agree to the use of a shorter gear lever on the 40/50 as standard.

(4) 20 HP. FOOT BRAKE. X.4259.

I do not think this can be improved as regards design. It is now of the best proportions possible, and is only defective in performance if there is something wrong with the brake, such as (1) adjustment, (2) bedding of the shoes, (3) materials of the brake surfaces, or (4) oil on the brake. The standard 20 HP. brake in the normal condition is more powerful than the 40/50. If wrong it is a production and maintenance matter to put right. Our own experience has been most satisfactory. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will say if the above is incorrect according to his views.
