Re: PROPOSED SERVICE CONFERENCE
ON OCTOBER 25th.

At the last Chassis Conference, free of charge work was an item on the agenda. It was suggested that this could be more usefully discussed at a Service Conference. Referring back to this item in the minutes of the previous conference held in June, it appears to be a question of re-considering a period of guarantee for future productions. The minute referred to reads as follows:-

Free of Charge Work.

"This matter was discussed in a preliminary way, and it was arranged that at the next meeting a further discussion should take place after a careful study of the existing guarantee. It is realised that an opportunity will exist to alter this in respect of B.III. and also B.50, and it was suggested with regard to B.50 that the period should be shorter than that for R.R. and Bentley".

With regard to free of charge work on existing cars, a considerable reduction has been made recently, as compared with the position a year ago.

So far as we are aware, there are few, if any, service complaints for which there is no known remedy.

On the Phantom III we have:-

(1) Over-oiling. We have complaints of this on new cars when used in London traffic conditions, and we are just about to make recommendations for dealing with this.

(2) Wear of chromium faced tappets. This has not been entirely cleared up by deletion of hydraulic mechanism, and the matter is having further consideration.

Cont'd.....
