P. & G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} AND E.P.S. Co. LTD. CONTINUATION SHEET NO. 1 frequency of topping-up, and general suitability as a standard for the Phantom III. At the same time, similar tests, with the same object in view, will be carried out on the proposed Exide MXR13 battery, which appears to be fitted with exactly similar plates to the 6-HZD13-S except for the thicknesses which are .094" positive and .09" negative, as against the HZ thickness of .076" for positive and negative. Particulars were taken of the life tests recommended to you, and we will let you have our comments on these later. 20 H.P. Rolls. - At the moment you do not propose to change from the existing 6-BHD9-SR battery, and you will continue testing our proposed 6-HZD11-S battery, along with proposed Exide MXR11. Bentley. - Here again you do not propose to change from the existing 6-BHD9-S battery, and you will continue testing our proposed 6-HZD9-S battery, along with the proposed Exide MXR9. In the course of a few days we will let you have our recommendations as regards a suitable life test for the 6-HZD9-S. The position generally is therefore that our proposed HZD range having dual separation and plates .076" thick, is being tested with the proposed Exide MXR range, also having dual separation, but of a reduced thickness in order to accommodate the thicker plates. Battery containers. - It was agreed that we should submit drawings showing how we proposed to strengthen the ends of the containers at present being supplied to you. Battery with topping-up device. - A fully charged sample battery was left with you for test, and this is the one referred to in the first paragraph of Mr. Minchin's letter of the 11th of May. Reading Aero Battery. - We are returning herewith the leaflet which you handed to the writer, and thank you for the loan of this. As the battery described has jelly electrolyte we are afraid that it would not receive Air Ministry approval. Yours faithfully, PETO & RADFORD. C.S. Chapman | ||
