CHEMICAL ANALYSIS.
Carbon: .37 % .38'
Nickel: 3.72 % 3.63
Chromium: .82 % .85
Vanadium: - %
Tungsten: - %
Manganese: .69 % .32
Silicon: .057 % .07
Sulphur: .028 % .032
Phosphorus: .033 % .033
Remarks, etc.
This is typical of Messrs B-B's Shafts that gave us some trouble in the past - It was found that this material - owing to high Chromium & manganese simultaneous- required a higher temper heat than usual & was difficult to refine and in many cases would not give a good stanton result.
