Crankshaft - no 140 - Examination of fracture does not give definite indication of flaw though the piece is rather coarse in one part. Microscopically the crystal grain shows to be a little coarser than average & there is evidence of rather considerable carbide separation as hard particles. There is no cellularity however. The steel appears to be in a satisfactory condition from the heat treatment point of view. With respect to composition see my report. L.L. 146 of yesterday.
