Dear Sirs,

We have been developing an oil in our own Laboratory for use in our axles where we fit Hypoid gears. Our experience has shown that oils other than Whitmore's Compound which we have tried are not satisfactory. We are therefore working with Whitmore's, but in view of the fact that we have developed an oil which we could supply to our customers we would like in the first place before attempting to develop it to supply you with any quantity you consider reasonable and necessary if you on your part would be prepared to try it out against the Whitmore's compound on your test tackle where of course you will be able to rapidly evaluate the proposal.

Trusting that you will be able to give this matter consideration, and help us by making the necessary tests.

We remain,

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
