WELLWORTHY PISTON RINGS LTD., LYMINGTON HANTS WORKS TELEPHONE LYMINGTON 520 WORKS TELEGRAMS "WELLWORTHY" PRIVATE TELEPHONE LYMINGTON 232 MANAGING DIRECTOR'S OFFICE 1020ap JH/KES 22nd August, 1938. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} / 2 A.C.9. Bearings. Further to my letter of the 18th and yours of the 19th instant on the above subject, you will be interested in the following extract from a letter I have received from Mr. Butler of the Bristol Aeroplane Company in connection with the two bushes we made for them to try out on their big end. It has always been looked upon as one of the most difficult jobs we should have to tackle, so it therefore looks quite interesting, although we must not be too optimistic. "Now with regard to the position of the two bushes in A.C.9, I have a report on my desk to the effect that these have given a remarkably good result on the rig and that an endeavour is now being made to get a hack engine as soon as possible in order to carry out an engine run, but I shall be able to tell you more about this when I see you." I feel that you will be pleased to learn of this progress. Yours sincerely, J.W. Howlett | ||
