It would appear in certain cases that a brake which is particularly effective will not tolerate the inevitable small clearances between shoe face and the back of the lining without producing vibration, and the cement appears to act as an effective filler of these spaces between the rivet pitches. We have been using a cement recommended to us by the Rover Company's Service Department, known as Bettmans Cement, and we have obtained small supplies of this from Ralph & Company, Paint Manufacturers of Coventry.

We would suggest that you might try this expedient, and should you do so, we shall be very interested to have a report from you on the degree of effectiveness of same. We should also be glad to have similar information with respect to the trial of the alternative brake linings which we are sending to you.

Yours faithfully,
FERODO LIMITED.
