To HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CJ. [struck through] WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E1/G24/9/21. [STAMP: ORIGINAL] [STAMP: RECEIVED 26 JUL] X4405 X4217 RE "SWALLOW". I want the Essex cylinder head gasket to find the width of the combustion chamber. The Essex is such a beast for detonating when run on petrol only of No.1 quality that Mr. Royce thinks we may have to abandon the economical scheme that has been got out for the "Swallow", and put both the valves in the head. You will remember that the arrangement of the "Swallow" is not the same as the Essex, but the combustion chambers are of similar form. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
