To HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to CJ. SWALLOW? The Crankshaft W. 37 ORIGINAL to prototypes R4/G29/8/21. X1692 X4405 RE CRANKSHAFT FOR NEW 14 H.P. SIX-CYLINDER ENGINE. Will you kindly let us know whether you consider the crankshaft on the Marmon really satisfactory. We are proposing a somewhat similar crankshaft for the new 14 H.P. six-cylinder. In the case of our smaller engine we hope it will be capable of running at 4,000 revs., but as the Marmon is a much bigger engine, we thought that if it could do, say, 2700, our smaller one would do 4,000 easily with a crankshaft of about the same proportions. We send you a sketch of our proposals for this crankshaft, and shall be glad if you will send us the design and dimensions of the Marmon crankshaft.
