Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} CWB. c. to PN.{Mr Northey} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} -------- 'SS{S. Smith}' CHASSIS - CLUTCH. -------- As far as I understand there is no need to make any alteration to the clutch stop or control. It will be understood that SS.{S. Smith} is the same, as regards floating clearance, as the 20 HP., and is the same as many other plate clutches. It was altered from the present Phantom so as to avoid the rather fine adjustment of the clutch brake on that clutch. Also so that we could vary the spring on the clutch stop brake and so alter its effectiveness. It is necessary for the serrations to slide freely, and this was probably the cause of the first one not coming to rest. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
