- 2 - with the present stronger standard, complaints of weak springs have been avoided. Again,we can assume that the majority of those who use their cars so as to find the springs too weak soon complain and have had attention and now satisfied. There is no doubt that shock absorber failures have accounted for several spring complaints. This, however, should be dealt with separately. We shall still have some complaints which will require special attention, but our experience so far has shown that this should be much less on Phantom II. cars than on previous models. Also from the records of attention given to springing complaints, there is some doubt as to the best shock absorber setting and this requires further investigation, It may be the best compromise, but complaints may be avoided by different settings according to how the car is to be used by the customer. PHANTOM I. It is not likely customers will complain after 12 months use unless springing develops poor. The main cause of these complaints therefore is unsatisfactory spring lubrication, or faulty shock absorber action. The most satisfactory and permanent cure is the spring grooving lubrication scheme. This should be pushed, and as an improvement should now only be done at customer's expense. The alternative is to hand lubricate the spring leaves and make the best of the latest spring gaiter lubrication scheme (25-HP. practice). Customer's charge - cost of upkeep. Shock absorber failures is an item for Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s attention We consider the above should cover the majority of complaints. Special cases may require special attention to springs or shock absorbers and must be considered on their merits, but these are diminishing and eventually will be outside our guarantee. CONTD:- | ||
