Stabilised Die Castings for Wraith.
--------------------------------

Further to your communication Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 12. 4. 38, we have investigated the list forwarded to us under the above reference and find that the details do not coincide with the Tool Orders received by this Department.

The Dies marked "held-up" are still released on Tool Orders and no information has been given that these are to be suspended. Also, five of the Dies in question are in course of manufacture.

Concerning Dies released, three of the numbers mentioned do not agree with our latest Tool Lists. They are as follows:-

DIE COST RECOVERED AFTER 150 CHASSIS.

(a) The Clutch Casing has been modified from the No. stated, GW1944, to GW2044 on an alteration dated 3. 4. 38 from BY/CL. 1st 100 Chassis 101st Chassis

(b) Jack Supports GW1665/6 have now been altered to GW2047/8 under a memo' dated 20. 4. 38 from RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/WLD/CP, and also, this latest number is only authorised for 6 sets, which means that possible the die, which we have in the course of manufacture, may not be required.

Used after P+6 Chassis ie Production

Will you please look into this matter further and let us have your comments.
