(6) The edge turnover on the top plates, carrying the Ferodo rest strip, needs cutting away to clear the scuttle felt and the Radiator bonnet rest angle.

(7) On both 8.B.V. and 9.B.V. cars it has been necessary to put packings of approx. .375" and .500" respectively under the bonnet hinge support to bring the top plates in line with the scuttle. This indicates some error either in dash, scuttle or bonnet details.

(8) The top tanks support stays, to which the bonnet supporting brackets (at the radiator end) are attached, must be sweated to the matrix side plates - at present on 8.B.V. which has a Morris 'B' type matrix and not a Marston matrix and therefore has no side plates, they permit a certain amount of transverse movement of the side plates.

With the exception of the above points, the bonnet design now seems satisfactory - the side plates will have ample stiffness when the extra clip mentioned in (1) is added, they are easily detachable, and easily refitted and adequately secured as far as one can judge before any amount of running has been done with them.

Will Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} please arrange for the above points to be corrected at the earliest possible moment, as we have to release 50 sets of this type bonnet very shortly, and will HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} please incorporate the modifications which Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} will make on 2.B.30 bonnet and all future B.V and B.30, so that a proto-type can be seen before we release 50 sets of bonnet parts to production.

As a further improvement on this bonnet, at our request Sy/Ald.{F. Allwood - Experimental Design} has just schemed and detailed SOD.1004, which is a scheme to replace the relatively expensive single centre catch for the top plates by two simple press-button catches on each plate. We do not propose, however, to endeavour to get this arrangement on the first series of B.V. cars.
