| X4523 To Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. to Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} R.{Sir Henry Royce} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. 2/KT. 7.11.31. ELECTRIC PETROL GAUGE. X4523 With reference to your DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M3.11.31. we are arranging for another Smith electric petrol gauge to be obtained and forwarded to R.{Sir Henry Royce} for his examination. The principle of the instrument is that a float in the petrol tank varies in its vertical motion the voltage across the actuating coils of the facia board instrument, which is apparently a simple moving iron voltmeter without control spring. The voltage variation is effected by the float working a potentiometer arm. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
