Re Expenses Weekending 10th November 1934.

We have received the memo from EM. whereby you have queried the item of 40.00 Francs for a taxi for four people, not three.

This item is for a taxi from the Gare St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Lazare to the Gare d'Austerlitz for four men with full luggage, two large bags each person. Excess baggage is charged for at the rate of 2 Francs per bag, and a charge of 16 Francs was made, that leaves 24 Francs for the journey, which is not excessive between the two stations, which are approximately two miles apart. The early morning train has not started from the Quai d'Orsay for some time. Rose states that if you are stating he has over charged, he has definitely paid the money which was demanded, but is willing to pay out of his own pocket the balance what you think he ought to have paid.
