VALVE PUSH RODS - PHANTOM. Hitherto the valve push rods used on Phantom engines have been made from steel tubing. HS. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} now informs us that push rods of monel-metal tubing give a better result in maintaining rocker clearance with the valve unaltered on the present engine and that this shews we shall require to use duralumin tubing on the aluminium Phantom. Duralumin has already been tried in Derby and will not stand up to the load. The tubes collapse and rub against the side of the guide holes.
