Car Engine Bearings.

Referring to the letter dated 6.4.35. from Fry's Metal Foundries, in which they offer us a cadmium white metal for main bearings. We are interested in main bearing alloys having a higher melting point than white metal. We are quite satisfied with our lead bronze big ends, but there are certain difficulties about using this metal for mains on a car engine, more particularly the fact that increased clearance has to be used is likely to be detrimental to the smoothness of the unit.

Therefore if you can supply us with some main bearings we will go ahead and make some tests.
