1081 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG.1/RH.{R. Hollingworth} 30th July, 1941. The Carr Fastener Co., Nottingham Road, Stapleford, NOTTINGHAM. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of July 23rd, together with samples of your Trimount Fasteners, No: 50995 and No.18/1; also for your offer to send a representative to call upon us. Unfortunately, at the moment, we cannot show him an example of the part on which we wish to use the fasteners. We do not consider that the sample fasteners which you have sent, will be quite satisfactory, as the stud does not fit snugly into the retainer, and would require too much space between the trim panel and the steel framework; and when the stud is clipped to the panel, it will tend to bind and make it difficult to get the necessary adjustment for hole location. If you will get your representative to call, we can explain to him our difficulties in using the samples which you have sent, although we shall not have actual assembly parts to show him. Please note the address of these works is Clan Foundry, Belper, Nr. Derby. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED, | ||
