COMPRESSION IGNITION UNIT.

We have got the compression ignition unit running again with the modified piston which gives a compression ratio of 14.3 to 1. This we consider to be a high limit for compression ratio and it has been arranged that we can adjust the compression to any other lower ratio we may desire.
With this high compression ratio we have been able to start off from dead cold without any pre-heating of the in-going air or the water in the cylinder jackets. We can also run without any need for additional heat.
At the moment we are running the engine without the blower.
The engine has now been arranged to take the R.A.E. indicator so that we shall be able to take diagrams and judge correctly the performance.
