BODY WORK. (THRUPP & MABERLEY)

The Body at the beginning was full of thumps. It was found that the front bolts holding the scuttle end down were fouling the brackets, the bolts not being central. The whole of the body bolts had been tightened up excessively, the rubber buffer on the underside having been squeezed up almost solid. These were all released, bolts made central with the brackets. The steel floorboard over the clutch pit fouled the cover plate of the clutch which caused knocking. There is not sufficient clearance between the floorboard and the clutch. The weight of the foot pressing on this steel pressing is sufficient to cause it to foul. It has not sufficient strength.
The rear floorboards were loose and knocked. These were refitted and securely fastened.
The two front doors cracked at the top rear corners and have since opened out. The rear part of the front wing valances have completely broken off. The N.S. front wing broke off where attached to running board (old complaint). Both front doors have dropped approximately 1/8". The bottom lubricator for the front door hinges cannot be got at, due to the upholstery.
Most of the noises have been cured and the body is now reasonably quiet.
