To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} FILING X7520 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/BE7.8.29. "3.S" HYDRAULIC DAMPERS Hydraulic Dampers to N.S. 2794/5 and 2817, have been standardised for the "3.S", on every car so far tried and approved by Sales, on Mr. Royce's cars and on the experimental cars' 10,000 miles tests the loading has been:- FRONT Upward loading....... 60 lbs. Downward loading..... 60 lbs. Five dynamic restrictions REAR Upward loading....... 60 lbs. Downward loading..... 80 lbs. Five dynamic restrictions We therefore consider that these loads should be used on production. The dampers have purposely been designed to give the maximum facility for adjustments at depots. We are getting out a depot sheet giving the loading we recommend for exceptional people such as speed enthusiasts on the one hand or invalids on the other. We think that it is essential a simple adaptor should be provided for the front dampers so that the loads can be checked without removing the dampers from the frame. continued. | ||
