The type of rotary valve you have sketched com-pares unfavourably with the existing poppet valve in breathing capacity. If you will examine the Aspin valve, you will find it is somewhat similar to your own suggestion, and we have carefully investigated its merits before coming to the conclusion that the existing poppet valve suits our own particular engine better.
