x7080 S/W To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Exhaust Heated Carburetter for Phantom II. SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}20/E28.10.29 Many thanks for Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/AD25.10.29. I am very interested to note that you have two experimental Phantom II cars running with exhaust heat to the carburetter and that Oy. and Srn. agree that they would satisfy USA requirements. I am also very pleased to note that the alteration is only a small one as from what I had previously gathered I understood that it would only be possible by making an alteration to the cylinder castings which of course meant rather a large alteration and a long period before we could bring it through even on a few chassis for America. PN{Mr Northey} is coming up to Derby to-morrow and I have asked him to see you in regard to this matter so as to try to ascertain exactly how we stand in regard to America. The matter is urgent because America had quite a number of Phantom II's on order from us, all of which have been held up until such time as we can supply them with chassis with the exhaust heated carburetter. Two chassis had been despatched prior to the above request being made, and I should be glad to know whether there are any difficulties in sending them the necessary fittings to enable them to convert these two chassis.
