Alterations and new parts for an S.S. Starter Motor.

X7655 C. EFC. BY/RD7/ALJ 3.3.29. S.S. STARTER MOTOR. 3 of the 8 motors have now been completed and the next 5 should embody the following feature asked for by Expl: Dept: , .075 Extra travel of armature, i.e. .775 total. This will be accomplished by inserting a .075 distance piece between C.E. Bracket and Magnet Case and using a longer plunger rod and coupling collar. We are adding alteration No. 2787/D to the armature shaft D.72032 and you will be able to use the existing shafts as before but without any off the pinion end. The Motors will therefore be as follows and we state which item is to be fitted where alternatives are quoted:- ARMATURE - D.72044 L.O.P. as already instructed with - Pinion D.71982 (Chamfered teeth) Pinion Spring D.71984 (Weaker) Armature Return Spring D.72159 (Z Spring low rate)(New piece.) Plunger Rod C.E. D.72160. Collar for Spring. D.72161. } New parts. Coupling Collar. D.72162. BEARING BRACKETS - D.72055 L.O.P. as instructed. COMMUTATOR - D.71955 L.O.P. as instructed. FRAME AND FIELD WINDING - D.72028 L.O.P. as instructed with - Magnet Case Extension Ring. D.72163. (New piece). This piece can be in Alum. or steel, just which is most convenient. Blueprints of the new pieces herewith and EFC. requests that the motors be sent to him without the armature return springs fitted to facilitate the testing.
