Material changes for experimental rings, comparing mild steel, nickel steel and aluminium bronze.

additionally the change in material makes for a much more satisfactory rivetting job.

Experimental rings are being instructed in both mild steel and nickel steel so that in the long run we shall be able to observe how these materials compare as regards the state of the keys in contact with the flywheel.

As an alternative to mild steel we understand that R.R. aluminium bronze has been suggested but for various reasons we think it would be better to look upon this as a second string in case we do not get away with mild steel.
