| Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /EAG.13/SW. C. Ward, Esq., Messrs. Park Ward & Co., 473, High Road, Willesden, LONDON N.W.10. Dear Mr. Ward, I understand from Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} that you are of the opinion that it is unnecessary to make a full size layout drawing of the B.V. body. As you know, I recommended that this should be done in my report of February 14th, the main reasons for recommending this are as follows :- (1) The existing drawing is very delapidated, and not much use for reference. (2) Should you at any time have to make changes in design, a layout would be almost sure to be wanted to refer to for information when dealing with the parts affected. (3) As there are a number of major parts on B.V. that are not detailed, a layout is necessary before dimensioned detail drawings can be made with any degree of accuracy. (4) As some of the parts which Motor Panels have supplied up to the present have necessitated your people doing a lot of extra work to make them usable, we agreed that additional jigs should be made for checking and so overcome this extra work having to be done. These jigs would normally be made from drawings, under the circumstances most of them will have to be made from templates taken from the wood model, from which some of the tools were made. These templates can be used for the lines on the layout to which they apply and the other parts for which tools have been made from drawings, can be laid in and a check made to see if they come together satisfactorily. -continued- | ||
