We send herewith print of N. scheme 3266. shewing the piston for the damper with the modifications instructed in R2/M3.4.31.

(1) We give notes on the drawing covering the various features.

(2) With regard to the damper on the preliminary print of N. scheme 3263. we should have remarked that the air trapped in the ends of the cylinder can permit of only .013" movement at the end of a 12" lever. This is so small that it does not seem worth while making any sacrifice to obtain a reduction.

The air trapped in the main valve pockets is sufficient in quantity to be serious as it requires .275" movement at the ball pin for its compression.

It will be seen that the main difference between our scheme and the sketch in R1/M26.2.31. is that we shew a larger pocket.

Air is trapped in both of our pockets, one less than the other.

We can eliminate the air from one but so far have not seen a simple way of clearing the air from them both.
