X8005 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY7/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 25. 2. 25. TUBE CARRYING FRONT END OF E.A.C. ENGINE. I am of the opinion that we should at once introduce a second tube inside the first, ground to size, tapered at the front end, and dip brazed at the same time that the brackets are brazed on. The tube I propose to use will be the same thickness as the outer one. It will run approximately half the distance between the front bracket and the front support, and be tapered off for about 2 1/2" long from .025 at the front end to the full thickness of 2 1/2". further back. This will increase the stiffness of the tube very considerably, and it is stiffness that is required rather more than strength, BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Ry | ||
