600a also 200a. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} (Chateauroux) Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/R.21.2.38. Many thanks for your various memos. We note what is happening to the Bentley plug gaps. We suggest that you might try the Lodge plugs in this car. We have sent you a full description of the Wraith brake system. We note that you have the original idler lever, and are now running with a stay to prevent flexing. The trouble with the Wraith exhaust system has been dealt with, and a flange provided, similar to the one shown in the sketch sent you last week. If you think it necessary, ultimately, we hope to send out some pieces to you. We dealt with the carburetter choke problem. We are providing a spring drive for the distributor. If you have any more failures with the Delco, put them right and keep running; if you have received the R.R. one you should run with this until we give you definite instructions. The Bentley Girling rear brake rods are being made foolproof from a locking point of view. On investigation we believe that the noise which emanates from the engine @ 73 m.p.h. is due to the slipper wheel and not valve springs. There should be no valve bounce until 4,300 rpm We are dealing with the noise in the side steering tube; also, the sticking choke in the Stromberg carburetter. We should like you to get as much running on the Wraith as you can, as we are now being committed to quite a lot of material. The behaviour of the inlet valves is somewhat disconcerting. We should like you to confirm that the Gordon Armstrong dampers on the Bentley are remaining quiet. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} P.S. Please contact with Sr. and find out all you can about the noise insulation scheme which he is using on his bodies. | ||
