To. HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/Cy. c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH.3./ 12. 3. 40 Clan/EXP FILLER CAP EB.5028. In reply to your memo HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/Cy 1/1c. 14. 2. 40 re difficulties in maching the above piece. This detail has been specified for production in black bakelite and it would appear that the thread cutting operation will not apply. I have raised the question of the brass insert not being consistently concentric and square with bore, and the design department, feel that the extra expense in-curred by flanging the insert is not justified. It is considered that all reasonable malalignment will be accommodated in the soft neoprene washer fitted in the cap. EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH. | ||
