Reasoning behind an agreement with Messrs. Firths to reduce dependency on Woodheads for springs.

Firths were approached was because R. {Sir Henry Royce} did not care for us being dependent on Woodheads alone, he was also doubtful whether their methods were modern, the agreement was therefore drawn up with the object of Messrs. Firths putting down modern equipment and dealing with springs in a modern manner, so that we should not find we were entirely dependent on Messrs Woodheads. As a matter of fact, at the time when the agreement was entered into, Messrs. Woodheads as a going concern, had been bought up and incorporated in one of the motor combines. BY. {R.W.
