Dear Sirs,

Replying to your letter of the 13th inst., reference EAB/RB.{R. Bowen}, we have delayed sending a new coil until we have received from you the faulty coil in question. We regret to say that up-to-date we have not yet received this coil.

With regard to these coil failures, we cannot understand why they should occur, as we can run thousands of hours with our own ozone test equipment without coil failure. We suspect that the voltage of the discharge gap is excessive and should be glad to know if you have accurately calibrated this. In this connection we would point out that the calibration of this gap should be carried out with the use of an impulsive voltage in view of the fact that most gaps have an impulse ratio.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
