Mrs. E.R. Hall,
53, Berkeley Court,
London, N.W.1.

Dear Mrs. Hall,

Herewith is a brief specification of the 4¼ litre Bentley chassis. I think that apart from the engine dimensions, the specification which Sr. gave you was O.K., as the 3½ and 4¼ chassis are so nearly identical except for the alterations to engine dimensions and modifications to bearing materials, crankcase, cylinder block, etc., which do not appear on the specification.

The following is a list of the modifications we propose to make from this specification :-

(1) The rear axle ratio will be altered to 12/41.

(2) A close ratio gearbox is being fitted.

(3) The exhaust system has been replaced by a straight through exhaust pipe.

(4) The compression ratio has been raised by decreasing the volume of the cylinder head, and the ports and valves increased in size.

(5) An auxiliary oil tank is provided which is fastened on the dashboard, which supplies oil by means of a pipe to the crankcase. The supply of oil from this tank is regulated either (a) by hand, or (b) by a float mechanism, at the discretion of the driver.

(6) The petrol tank size has been increased to 32 gallons.
