R.R. 493A (50H) (D.B. 175 25-9-24) J.H.D. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. 4895D REF: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG26.5.25. To BJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to PN.{Mr Northey} CMB. RE: CAR NO: 15-MC. Referring to BJ1/H25.5.25. We have examined one of the first fan brackets which failed on one of the Trials Cars and the evidence shows that there had been violent oscillation taking place on the fan. With a correctly balanced fan and correct fan belt, there should be very little oscillation on the fan on its mounting. It should never get into a violent periodic oscillation. Similar brackets to those which were fitted on to the Trials Cars have run 50,000/60,000 miles on experimental cars. We understand that corrected fans have been sent to London to be fitted on to all the Trials cars, and all cars delivered. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
